ITALIAN DONN’S FOR REAL
SUNDAY MIRROR
REAL MADRID are looking at AC Milan teenager Gianluigi Donnarumma as an alternative to Manchester United keeper David De Gea.
The European champions are ready to switch their attentions from Manchester to Milan after being quoted £65million for De Gea.
Donnarumma, at 18 already an Italian international, is being tipped to develop into the best goalkeeper in the world and is embroiled in a contract row with his Serie A club.
And Madrid reckon he will cost less than half the valuation that United have placed on De Gea’s head.
United insist they don’t want to cash in on the 26-year-old – and De Gea has made it clear to Madrid that he will not agitate for a move.
He saw a £29million switch to the Bernabeu collapse at the 11th hour, two years ago, when the Spanish giants failed to deliver documentation in time.
But De Gea is reluctant to enter into talks with the Old Trafford club about a new £200,000-a-week contract while Real’s interest remains strong.
That might change if Madrid now press ahead for Donnarumma.
The teenager (above), who earns less than £2,700 a week, is represented by Mino Raiola, the superagent who looks after Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Raiola has already rejected three contract offers from Milan, who will hike his pay to more than £80,000 a week – but he is holding out for more.
