PRICE: JOSH IS REAL DEAL..

- BY GARETH WALKER

STEVE PRICE labelled Josh Charnley a “winner” after the winger made a triumphant return to the AJ Bell Stadium.

Winger Charnley (above) spent 17 months in rugby union with Sale Sharks before switching back to the 13-man code with Wolves last month.

And the ex-England international continued his encouraging start to life back in league with a try and an assist on his old stomping ground, making it five in a row for Warrington.

Price said: “Josh has been terrific from day one of coming to our organisation. He’s a really good guy, a winner, and he understands what it takes to be a team player.

LFA“He fights for every play-the-ball and that’s what we’re trying to grow in our club.

“He’s been showing that in spades.

“His ball inside to Toby King for the first try was fantastic, and what he does on and off the ball is fantastic.”

Warrington raced into a 14-0 lead. King exchanged passes with Charnley to open the scoring, before the winger touched down himself from Stefan Ratchford’s long ball.

King then laid on a third try for Tyrone Roberts before being forced to withdraw with a hamstring injury.

The home side eventually responded through their best player Rob Lui, who took a great pass from Weller Hauraki and converted himself.

The visitors sealed their win when Kevin Brown crossed and Ratchford added two late goals.

Salford coach Ian Watson said: “We’re not far away, but we’ve got some young lads learning some harsh lessons.”
