Sherlock star to get £7.5m for Doctor Strange sequel

SHERLOCK star Benedict Cumberbatc­h is set to bag £7.5million for the sequel to superhero movie Doctor Strange. Filming on Doctor Strange 2 is expected to begin next spring and could take as long as six months. And the 42-year-old British favourite is in line for a £5million increase from Disney on the pay packet he received for the original in 2016.

But that could be bad news for fans clinging to rumours that the BBC show featuring legendary detective Sherlock Holmes may POP princess Britney Spears gets a warm ‘ow do as she swaps Las Vegas glitz for Yorkshire grit. The Toxic singer, 36, thrilled fans as she pole danced in her show on a rainy night at the 6,500-seat open air theatre in Scarboroug­h. Hotels and pubs were packed at the seaside resort as thousands flocked to see the superstar on her Piece of Me Tour. Britney, who did four years at Vegas, picked Scarboroug­h as one of her “people” grew up in Leeds. What a Brit of luck. return for a fifth series. The in demand star has previously committed to only a “maybe” when asked if he would like to return to the TV role.

He has already made £4.2million in total from his work on the first Doctor Strange, Thor Ragnarok and the last two Avengers movies.

A movie source said: “Benedict has become a huge player in the Marvel universe. But the nature of the shoot for the sequel means we’re looking at 2020 for the next time we see the sleuth in a full series – if it happens at all.”

Martin Freeman, who plays Holmes’ sidekick Dr Watson, has also revealed that he has not yet been consulted on another series.
