The Sound of Silenced No more songs says Paul Simon
MUSIC legend Paul Simon has stopped writing music after wowing fans for 60 years. The singer, 76, revealed he abandoned penning new tunes two years ago and aims to see out his days travelling the world. He is on the final leg of his farewell tour and is releasing an album of re-imagined old songs, In the Blue Light. It includes solo hits but none of the classics from his days with Art Garfunkel, 76 – like The Sound of Silence and Bridge Over Troubled Water.
Paul said: “I haven’t written a new song in a couple of years now.
“I think after [2016 album] Stranger to Stranger, a funny thing happened when I finished. I literally felt like a switch clicked and I said, ‘I’m finished’.
“I’d like to see the planet. I think to myself, ‘Do I want to spend the next three years making an album or would I rather go to India?’ I’ve travelled a lot but there’s a bunch SCREEN stars Helena Bonham Carter and Harry Treadaway enjoy a Royal appointment – and a regally funny night out.
Helena, 52 – about to appear as party-loving Princess Margaret in hit series The Crown – couldn’t stop grinning over pints with Harry, 33, at the trendy Holly Bush pub in Hampstead, North London.
Helena, in typically eccentric outfit, has been single since splitting with movie director husband Tim Burton in 2014.
Harry – Dr Frankenstein in gothic TV horror drama Penny Dreadful – met Helena when they worked together on her ex’s 2013 film Lone Ranger and they’ve been great pals ever since.
Bafta-winner Helena has confessed she’s ”terrified” to be taking over as Margaret from Vanessa Kirby in the third series of The Crown.
So if Harry’s free maybe she can watch it with him on Netflix...and chill! of places I haven’t been, the South Pacific Islands, Cambodia.
“At the end of my life, if fortunate enough to have a graceful nonpainful ending, I’d rather say I had a great life than a great career.”
He also is planning to delve deeper into his spirituality and added: “We don’t have the capacity to understand the great mysteries of life and God, no God, or infinity.
“But the pursuit is so interesting. I think when you lose the interest in that pursuit, you’re finished.”
