Taxi rapist sells £200k seedy flat Anger as Worboys adds to his wealth

- BY DAN WARBURTON

TAXI cab rapist John Worboys has pocketed nearly £200,000 from the sale of the seedy sex den where he starred in amateur porn films.

The vile sex offender has sat on the flat for more than a decade after he was jailed for life over a series of horrific attacks.

But as he prepared for release from prison – after serving just nine years – he decided to cash in.

He had hoped to offload the two-bed property in Poole, Dorset, for £227,500.

He had to take a £32,000 hit but still pocketed over £195,000 – in addition to a fortune he has built up elsewhere. At the time of his arrest the one-time stripper owned a £2million string of other properties.

Land registry documents confirm the sale of the flat in posh Branksome Park was completed in June. A source said: “Worboys is a wealthy man who has been sitting on a substantial nest egg.

“The fact he has added to his wealth will make it even worse for his victims who were given a pittance in compensation when he was convicted.”

The Sunday Mirror exposed the rapist’s bolthole, from which he made money renting out to the makers of sleazy sex films.

Its existence was revealed by a means test denying him legal aid when some of his victims successfully contested the decision to free him earlier this year.

London-born Worboys, 61, who has changed his surname to Radford, will have to dig into his money to hire lawyers to put his case. He was convicted of assaults on 12 women in 2008 but police believe he could have had as many as 200 victims in London and the Bournemouth area.
