STRICTLY star Danny John Jules is so hungry for the glitterball he is eating roast lamb for breakfast to power his bid for glory.

The Red Dwarf actor, 58, bagged the first 10 of this series with pro partner Amy Dowden on last week’s show.

And he admits he is now eating a lot more than usual to keep his energy levels up after fainting in rehearsals.

Danny said: “Some people here have lost a stone already but if I lost a stone I wouldn’t be able to do these numbers. So I am eating.

“For breakfast this morning I had roast lamb, roast potatoes, cabbage and carrots.

“Then I came in and had two sausages and baked beans in the studio. And then lunch, and dinner.”

The star also ruled out booze as he prepared to perform the American smooth with Amy, 27, following last week’s jive.

He said: “If you do a jive like that at 58 you don’t go out drinking.

“You don’t go out partying, all you do is eat, stretch and rehearse.

“Joe Sugg is 24 and even he is not burning the candle. That is suicide.”

Danny, who most recently played policeman Dwayne Myers in Death in Paradise, added that he learned to dance in nightclubs.

He said: “That’s where it all started and we didn’t drink then either.” Meanwhile, Danny is not the only celebrity using bizarre tactics in a bid to win.

Pussycat Doll singer Ashley Roberts, 37, revealed she has “been doing magnesium baths every night”.

She said: “It’s a supplement you put in a warm bath. It goes into my muscles and helps with inflammation. You just pour it in and soak it up.

“It’s not really a secret, it’s a necessity. I do it every night after training. “It does so much but the main reason is it helps keep your muscles flexible so reduces the chance of injury.

“I’ve been taking a sauna as well to help with inflammation, to give my body some goodness to help me out.

“I need to show it a bit of love because boy, am I punishing it right now.”

And Steps star Faye Tozer, 42, has revealed that her tricks include bathing in ice.

She said: “I’m doing everything I can, you’ve got your ice baths, heat packs, cold packs, the lot! I’ve been doing a lot of yoga to stretch myself out a lot, that seems to work.

“I’ve been having massages and physio sessions too.

“You just do as much as you can fit in because you want to stay as fit and healthy as you possibly can. I don’t want to be forced out by injury.” STRICTLY judge Craig Revel Horwood worked with Bruno Tonioli for the first time last night since he called him “annoying attention-seeker and a tightwad”. Craig, 53, was speaking at a book launch last week while Bruno, 62, was in America.
