Ross double’s pure comedy

Sunday Mirror - - SAIRAKHAN -

Good on Blackpool police for realising that social media can be their friend. I loved the reponse to the photo they posted on Facebook of a thief walking out of a restaurant clutching a crate of beer. The good old British public took one look and promptly identified Ross from Friends – AKA American actor David Schwimmer. One wag wrote: “I don’t think it’s been this guy’s day, his week, his month or even his year.” But the icing on the cake was when Schwimmer posted his own spoof of the crime. Some killjoys grumble that the police should have better things to do than mess about on social media. But I think they’re like any other organisations that need to find new ways of reaching their communities. If social media breaks down barriers and catches a few crooks in the process, I’m all for the laughing policeman.
