Leg in river belonged to missing mum
A LEG found in a river belonged to a mum of two who vanished a year ago, police said yesterday.
Marie Scott, 58, went missing after leaving home last December 18.
Police divers recovered the limb from the River Irwell in Pendleton, Gtr Manchester, last month.
DNA testing confirmed it belonged to Mrs Scott.
Police say no one else is thought to be involved in her disappearance.
Detective Inspector Simon Akker said: “This is an absolutely heartbreaking development in the investigation to find Marie and her family are understandably distraught.
“Our efforts now will focus on doing everything we can to provide the family with the support and answers they deserve.”
