Union warns of trains chaos as timetable changed again

- BY TONY DEWHURST & KELLY JENKINS

COMMUTERS face travel hell as train networks introduce new timetables today, a union boss warned last night.

LNER, Hull Trains, Grand Central, South Eastern and Virgin Trains West Coast will all see disruption.

The last timetable shake-up in

May sparked outrage with many services cancelled.

Network Rail says “lessons have been learned”. But Manuel Cortes, of the TSSA rail union, said: “Passengers will once again be left shivering on platforms this week as our station staff are braced for more chaos.

“Members expect more delays and cancellations because there simply aren’t enough trained drivers to cope with the demands.”

Northern Rail passengers will be hit with yet more disruption as workers stage walkouts every Saturday before Christmas in a

long-running dispute.
