Union warns of trains chaos as timetable changed again

COM­MUTERS face travel hell as train net­works in­tro­duce new timeta­bles to­day, a union boss warned last night.

LNER, Hull Trains, Grand Cen­tral, South Eastern and Vir­gin Trains West Coast will all see dis­rup­tion.

The last timetable shake-up in

May sparked out­rage with many ser­vices can­celled.

Net­work Rail says “lessons have been learned”. But Manuel Cortes, of the TSSA rail union, said: “Pas­sen­gers will once again be left shiv­er­ing on plat­forms this week as our sta­tion staff are braced for more chaos.

“Members ex­pect more de­lays and can­cel­la­tions be­cause there sim­ply aren’t enough trained driv­ers to cope with the de­mands.”

North­ern Rail pas­sen­gers will be hit with yet more dis­rup­tion as work­ers stage walk­outs ev­ery Satur­day be­fore Christ­mas in a

long-run­ning dis­pute.
