More girls hit by lone­li­ness

Young women are more likely to ex­pe­ri­ence lone­li­ness, says the Of­fice for Na­tional Statis­tics.

About 11 per cent of all those aged 10 to 24 of­ten felt lonely, the study found, with a fur­ther 34 per cent some­times suf­fer­ing the feel­ing.

More girls than boys said they had ex­pe­ri­enced lone­li­ness.
