NOT BAD FOR A NO.2

-

AFTER being sacked from his third managerial post, Paul Clement must be wondering if those that consider him an out-and-out No.2 have a point.

Some coaches, it seems, are more suited to the assistant role.

But if Clement is looking for inspiration, he could take it from Steve Clarke, and the job the former Newcastle United, Chelsea, West Ham United, Liverpool and Aston Villa No.2 is doing up in Scotland. Sure, he lasted only 18 months in the main gig at West Brom and 12 at Reading, but he has Kilmarnock flying – with an average wage of less than £1,000 per week, no debt and a profit of nearly £1million.

Despite yesterday’s hammering at Celtic, Clarke is up there as one of the best managers in Britain.
