Truckers put on 12lb a year from bad diet

LORRY drivers can put on nearly a stone every year because of their bad diets, according to a survey.

They consume almost 4,000 calories a day from fried breakfasts, garage snacks and fizzy drinks.

Ninety- four per cent struggle to find healthy food while on the road.

More than half have a Full English breakfast every day, 64 per cent rely on energy and fizzy drinks to keep going, and 79 per cent opt for crisps and sugary snacks.

The poll of 804 truckers for WMB Logistics found that the average driver gained 12lb in the last year.

A spokesman said: “A few small changes can make the world of difference; swap crisps for fruit, and switch the fizzy drinks for water or juice.”
