Xmas is for us Muslims too

I get a lot of stick for being a Muslim who loves Christmas.

Some people seem to think putting up a Christmas tree is an insult to my religion and means I am not a “proper Muslim”.

My poor mum got the same when we were young after daring to hang up some cards with Rudolph on.

What miserable nonsense. Why shouldn’t I be allowed to feel part of the celebration?

I love the lights, the food, the parties, the presents, the music, the films. Everything December can chuck at me, I’ll take. With a star on top.

I was born in this country and I’m for anything that brings people together and puts grins on faces, whether it’s the Muslim celebration of Eid, the Jewish festival of Hanukkah or the Hindu festival of Diwali. Plus, there’s no way I’ll pass up any party.
