Discover Longshaw Pond, an old holloway (sunken lane), and Lawrence Field with its medieval archaeology, before exploring Padley Woods. Difficulty: Moderate

Length: 2 hours / 3 miles

1 From the tea room at Longshaw Visitor Centre, cross the drive and turn left along the path by the fence. Go through a small gate, turn right and walk slightly downhill with rhododendrons on your right. Go through a gate toward the pond. 2 Follow the curve of the pond and continue downhill through Granby

Wood to Granby Barn.

3 Follow the path to the road, cross to the gate, go through and take the path slightly right to Burbage Brook. Cross the bridge, and follow the entrance to Hollowgate on the right. At the top of Hollowgate, turn left up an incline. Owler Tor is on the left. 4 Follow the path across Lawrence Field with the road on your right. At the end, with a five-bar gate and stile in front, turn left. Follow the path downhill, keeping the fence line on your right.

5 After 500m, go through a gate, then turn left when the path forks towards Lawrence Field’s southern boundary.

6 Take the gate on the right and turn right on to the path down the hill. At the end, turn left. Descend to the main Padley Gorge path. Follow this to a gate leading to an area strewn with boulders.

7 Take the path alongside Burbage Brook to a wooden bridge. Cross and follow the left path to the gate below Granby Barn. 8 Cross the road and retrace your steps back to the tearoom at the start.
