Who’s Sarrie now!

McCALL DELIGHTED AS HIS BOYS BOUNCE BACK

-

Fthose things. The more important thing was how we responded.

“I felt we were the dominant team for the last 60 minutes. We butchered some pretty good chances but overall our response to a difficult situation was a good one.”

Worcester gave it a rattle after being hammered by Northampton 32- 6 last weekend and caught Saracens flat- footed with a flying start that saw them 14-0 up in 12 minutes.

Fly- half Duncan Weir made the most of a dozy Saracens defence to score the opener and when the returning Ben Te’o went over the champions looked in disarray. But Mako Vunipola got the ball rolling when he went over from a driving maul on the half hour and Owen Farrell’s boot made it 11-17 at the break to get the Premiership favourites back in it.

Lock Will Skelton dropped the ball over the line when he should have scored and went close again after the break before flanker Calum Clark crossed.

Clark made the most of some massive Saracens pressure to go over in the corner and the hosts were up and running.

Replacement wing David Strettle got a third and Saracens went hunting a bonus point but could not nick a fourth score.

But Worcester had proved they are no pushovers particularly with Te’o back in full flow, storming it in the middle of the field.

Warriors full-back Chris Pennell said: “We were really disappointed with how we played against Northampton. We’ve regained a bit of our mojo but it only sets a marker if we do something next week.”

Director of rugby Alan Solomons admitted: “In the first half we played really well but in the second half we made a few mistakes and we were punished.

“The important thing is the character the side showed.”
