Dele: We are feelin’ foursome

- BY Neil gOUldiNg

DELE ALI has no doubts Tottenham have the resources to potentially deliver on FOUR fronts this season.

The England midfielder starred as Spurs spanked League Two Tranmere 7-0 at Prenton Park on Friday to keep their FA Cup challenge on track.

And even though it was Spaniard Fernando Llorente, who deservedly scooped the man-of-the-match award for a fine hat-trick, victory assured Mauricio Pochettino’s hungry side continue to chase for quadruple honours.

They’re third in the Premier League, face Chelsea on Tuesday in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-finals and then have a mouthwatering Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund to look forward to next month.

“We need to start to winning things,” admitted Ali. “It’s about time for us as players. We want to win trophies, want to win every game, every competition – we’ve been playing well.

“Some people might expect you to prioritise different competitions, but we believe we’ve got a strong squad with great players. We’ve got to make sure everyone is on it.

“When you’re challenging in different competitions you can take your foot of the gas, but you’ve got be consistent and keep performing at the top level.”

Spurs’ rout kept alive their hopes of a first FA Cup crown since 1991. But the Londoners have not won anything since their 2008 League Cup title under former boss Juande Ramos.

However, Ali, who gave an assured performance as captain on Friday, is desperate to keep improving and to guide Spurs to even greater success.

He revealed: “I want to keep improving as a player and as a person as well – 2019 can definitely be better than 2018. I’m not going to stop [trying to improve], I’m going to keep going.”

Spurs were on a seven-game unbeaten run before a shock 3-1 defeat to Wolves at Wembley last month. But they have picked themselves up since and bagged 10 goals in two matches.

Ali added: “The manager didn’t need to say much to us, as players we were disappointed with defeat to Wolves.

“We’d been in great form before that, so maybe we got a little bit carried away with ourselves. You can’t do that if you want to win things and be a top, top team. We have to be clinical and ruthless in every game.”
