Vegans take twice sickies of meat fans

- BY STEPHEN HAYWARD Consumer Correspondent

VEGANS take the most days off work because of colds, flu and minor ailments, a study claims.

People on meat and dairy- free diets throw almost five sickies a year compared to the average 2.5, the research shows.

The study by Fisherman’s Friend throat lozenges also found that millennials take 2.5 days off compared to less than one for those aged over 55.

A spokesman for the vegan-friendly brand said its survey of 1,000 people was the first time it had identified how many days people take off according to their diet type.

Vegan Society dietitian Heather Russell said: “It’s possible to get all the nutrients your body needs from a vegan diet.”
