75TO Sad Dave may never Cam in from the cold

-

None of David Cameron’s old buddies talk to him nowadays. No wonder he’s been drowning his sorrows on a surfboard off Costa Rica.

Theresa May stand-in David Lidington characterises this as having “no record of formal meetings in the last two months with the former PM” on Brexit.

Brexit Secretary Stephen Barclay doesn’t speak to him either.

I’ll bet. Asking Cameron for Brexit advice would be like consulting Larry, the No10 cat.

If Cam hadn’t called the referendum there was no great clamour for, we wouldn’t be in the mess we are now.

Even the most ardent Brexiteers I rub shoulders with in the Commons say the same thing every day.

They’re no less passionate about Brexit. But many regret that the referendum ever happened. It raises the question: What’s the remedy if democracy gets it wrong?

Adolf Hitler was democratically elected. And it took a world war to put that right.
