19 firemen free obese 999 patient
AT least 19 firefighters were sent to help an obese patient get out of her house after she became stuck in a chair.
They arrived in three fire engines with an aerial lifting platform.
It took an hour to get the woman down the stairs at her home in Whitchurch, Hants, before she could be taken to hospital.
It is understood the fire service was summoned because of the “way she got stuck” rather than the patient’s weight.
A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service said: “As her condition was deteriorating they requested the fire service to attend.”
Last night the woman was being treated at Winchester Royal Hampshire County Hospital.
