Tragic star had fleeting romance with singer Matt
I can reveal that the Back To Black singer once got romantic with Busted frontman Matt Willis.
The music pair locked lips as teenagers in the late 1990s while the fledgling stars were both pupils at Sylvia Young drama school. “We kissed once,” recalls Matt, 35, now married to TV presenter Emma Willis , 42. “It was just a bit of silliness really but we were really, really good mates.”
The romance heightened Matt’s experience at the school, which gave him “total freedom”.
“I just had the best time there – I was given total freedom to completely express myself and I loved every minute of it,” says Matt, whose comeback album with Busted, Halfway There, is out now.
During her short life, Amy was connected to a string of wild men.
In 2007, she married Blake Fielder- Civil , 36, who admitted introducing her to heroin and crack cocaine. They divorced in 2009. She also had a romance with notorious hellraiser Pete Doherty , 39.
At the time of her tragic death aged 27 in 2011 from alcohol
poisoning, Amy was engaged to filmmaker Reg Traviss , 41, and was trying to turn her life around.
Matt, who is in recovery from drink and drug addiction, also reveals of his drama school days: “Amy was in my class so can you imagine being up against her every day? No wonder I started off acting and only got into the music business later.
“People think Sylvia Young is full of stage school brats but it wasn’t like that.
“If you were gay, you could be gay without any fear of retribution.
“It was the most freeing, liberating place where everybody felt nourished, and I loved my two years there.”
Sounds like a blast.
