HERB HAS SCENT OF SUCCESS
(above) in his autobiography, as a potential star of the future.
Kane added: “Stevie was my hero when I was younger. I wanted to be a midfielder like him and I looked up to him so much because of the goals he scored and the way he played the game.
“Of course, he was also my manager at youth level, and he was always so approachable and a great help to everyone.
“When he mentioned me as a player to watch in his autobiography I was shocked.
“I went out and bought the book straight away. Even my nan bought a copy – and she doesn’t have a clue about football!”
Kane was also included – with Anfield team-mates Trent Alexander-Arnold and
Ben Woodburn – on the 100-name list for the Golden Boy award for the best young player in Europe.
And his impact in South Yorkshire has been so big that Donny boss McCann revealed: “We worked hard getting Herbie here – and have had to work even harder in January to keep him, because there were five or six Championship clubs and a couple of massive teams in League One chasing him.”
Kane admitted: “I was tempted to move because I wanted to challenge myself by getting into a higher league.
“But I feel like I’m doing well here. I am playing games, the manager trusts me – and I want to get Doncaster promoted.”
