KEANE, MEAN FIGHTING MACHINE Ole’s advice from pal Roy

- From STEVE BATES in Singapore

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER has confided in Roy Keane during a private meeting with Manchester United’s outspoken former skipper.

And the Old Trafford boss has admitted he’s taken Keane’s hardline views on board as he looks to rebuild a United team who have lost their way since last winning the title six years ago.

Solskjaer revealed the pair chatted over a cup of tea at Keane’s Cheshire house, rekindling a friendship that started in United’s heyday under Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Norwegian refused to give details of his conversation with Keane – a savage critic of his former club.

But he acknowledged Keane didn’t hold back.

“I’ve already been at his house for a cup of tea. I keep in touch with Roy. For me, he was a fantastic leader. I loved having him as my captain.

We’ve become friends.

“I know Roy did an interview saying there’s many people that claim to be his friends. But I feel that we are quite close.

“And I always listen to Roy and his opinions – I value them very highly.” After spectacularly falling out with Ferguson when he left in 2005, Keane is effectively an exile at Old Trafford apart from matchday stints as a commentator for BT Sport.

And it’s a sign that if Solskjaer survives in the United hot-seat Keane could even be a visitor to the training ground at Carrington.

Solskjaer is desperate to put United back on track and bring back the glory days he enjoyed alongside Keane.

First needs he

a captain to lead his revolution – but while Pep Guardiola is letting his City players choose the successor to Vincent Kompany, Solskjaer won’t divulge his plan until the futures of Paul Pogba (left) and contract rebel David de Gea are clearer.

“There’s different ways of picking a captain. You can have club captains, you have players choosing or you can have me being like a dictator,” he said.

“We have got leaders in this group. We’ve shared it round with Juan Mata, Ashley Young, then there’s David, Paul and Nemanja Matic.

“We’ve had loads of captains so let’s see who’s going to be in
