Cup in 2017. But just three months later Brewster suffered a serious ankle injury for Liverpool’s Under-23s against Manchester City that sidelined him until the tail end of last season.

Now he is fully immersed in the firstteam and James Milner is offering advice having been a teenage star himself.

Brewster will look to add to his tally when the Reds face

Park in Boston and Milner, now 33, said: “Rhian is probably more outgoing and has got more confidence than I had.

“I think I had an inner belief and a quiet belief in myself, whereas Rhian lets everyone know.

“That is fine as long as you are learning and you have that arrogance on the pitch, which he does. To come here and score goals in pre-season is great and it has given him a lift, but now it is the start of it.

“There is going to be a lot of hard work, there are a lot of games, and for me he just has to learn as much as he can. He has got a great squad around him, he has learned off the manager and he needs to take everything in every day.

“Every day is an opportunity to prove himself and improve again. It’s a long path to get there and he is in amongst it straight away.

“If he wasn’t as grounded as he is that could be a problem but the good thing is he is, and he has got hunger.

“If he doesn’t have that and maybe wobbles for one second he has got plenty of senior players around him that will give him a kick up the a***.”
