Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis take to the open road in the 1991 movie as Thelma and Louise to drive from Arkansas to Arizona. But the Oscar-winning film wasn’t filmed in either state.

In reality, the cast and crew were based in the canyons of Utah and central valleys of California.

Instead of the Grand Canyon, the terrifying drop in final scenes can be found at Dead Horse Point, Utah, 2,000ft above the Colorado River.
