We’ll go sick to mourn for dead celebs
STARSTRUCK Brits take time off to grieve for celebrities and are more affected by their deaths than those of their relatives.
Nearly one in 20 have taken a day off when an idol died, a survey found.
And one in five were more upset than they were when a grandparent died.
One in 10 felt compelled to go to a public place of grieving after Princess Diana’s death in 1997.
Psychologist Donna Dawson said of insurance company SunLife’s survey: “When we mourn a celebrity’s death, we are also mourning the death of a part of ourselves: that part which we have invested in the personality.”
