Machine gun swoop

ARMED police smash the window of a car with submachine guns yesterday as a high-speed chase ends in four arrests.

A video taken by onlookers shows officers bringing an Audi convertible to a stop by throwing a stinger device across the road as marked cars swoop in.

The driver is then pulled from the car on to the floor before three more people are hauled from the back seats.

Metropolitan Police confirmed four teenagers were arrested in connection with a knife-point robbery.

They said the chase began when the driver failed to stop for officers in Enfield, North London, at 9.25am. It ended 10 miles away in Loughton, Essex, shortly after.
