Victims claw back £300k in nail scam
A FIRM that cheated shoppers by selling bottles of nail gel that were a quarter empty has been told to pay back £300,000 illegal profit.
Bosses were also fined £60,000 over the scam.
Daisy’s Nails, of Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex,, labelled the gels as 20ml, but tests found they averaged just 14.85ml.
The firm was also told to pay £27,244 costs at Lewes crown court.
Richard Sargeant, of West Sussex trading standards, said the firm must hand back profits under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
He said: “They deliberately gave false volumes with the intention of defrauding customers.”
