Parents fund freshers to bed in at uni
STUDENTS take family belongings worth around £700 when they head off to university.
Fifty- six per cent of them borrow bedding from home, while 54 per cent won’t go without their laptop.
TVs, beds, fridges, laptops and sandwich toasters are also among the most popular items taken, a survey revealed.
The poll, by Endsleigh Insurance Services, found a quarter of parents typically spend £650 on household products to support their offspring – but one in 10 students also take items without permission.
Jeff Brinley, chief executive of Endsleigh Insurance Services, said: “Freshers are starting off with an impressive array of valuables taken from home.”
