Walter Ingham left Remington Typewriters in 1934 with £25 to his name after finding a special offer that gave ski group leaders free rail tickets and a hotel room in resorts.

He cashed in on the promotion by taking a party to Hotel Jagerhof in Schoenberg in the Tyrol. Five trips later, he had £80 in the bank.

He then went into business, setting up F&W travel agents which specialised in winter sports before becoming Inghams.

Celebrating 85 years in the business, the firm now offers holidays to more than 90 resorts across Europe, as well as Canada and now Japan.
