Eagles boss Roy Hodgson saw his side equal a club record by making it six Premier League games unbeaten at home.

This season Palace have taken eight points from four games in south London – conceding once.

And Zaha, after a quiet start to the campaign, was heavily involved in the two goals that counted here.

But though Zaha and goalscorers Luka Milivojevic – with a penalty – and Andros Townsend could take much of the credit, Hodgson also hailed his defence.

He said: “The league may not give Wilf the assist for the penalty, but I will. Then he set up Townsend for the second.

“He has been back changing the game in the last couple, maybe even more against Wolves. The first two games he wasn’t the Wilf we know and love.

“But since then he is again. We have always said he is a player we need. To his credit he has got his head around the summer, and is focused on helping Palace.

“Defensively we are a very hard- working team. Everyone brings their straw to the water. Wilf doesn’t stand waiting to be served, he comes back.

“To keep clean sheets and not concede, it’s an 11man effort. Then Martin Kelly also made a crucial block today at 1-0.

“You want to win your home games, it is important for the fans – and the form here so far this season is pleasing.”

Norwich’s injury- hit squad were already missing eight players. Tim Krul’s replacement Ralf Fahrmann, in goal for his Premier League debut, soon made it nine – limping off after 22 minutes.

Later there was a suspected broken elbow for Jamal Lewis.

Palace broke through on 21 minutes. Zaha dragged the ball back on the right and crossed – and a clumsy lunge from Ibrahim Amadou on James McArthur saw ref Jonathan Moss point to the penaty spot. Serbian midf ielder Mi l ivojevic thumped in the spot kick – his 20th such goal from 22 attempts.

As Daniel Farke’s men rallied Palace saw Martin Kelly block Cantwell’s shot at full stretch.

However sub Townsend sealed it, finding the corner after Zaha darted in from the left.

Farke (above) said: “We are disappointed to get no points. It is difficult with all the injuries.”
