Abuse claim ex-MP walks off BBC show

- BY PAUL HOOPER

FORMER Tory MP Harvey Proctor stormed off the BBC Breakfast show yesterday in an interview on the botched police handling of sex abuse claims.

Mr Proctor, 72 – falsely accused by fantasist Carl Beech – complained host Naga Munchetty had not let him express his views.

During a feisty exchange, he suddenly removed his earpiece, telling her: “I’m not having this… you must not invite people on and not allow them to speak.”

JAILED

Beech, 51, was jailed for 18 years for making false allegations of a Westminster paedophile ring.

Mr Proctor had been demanding Met Commissioner Cressida Dick face questions over the case on the programme.

He said: “I lost my job, my home and my repute as a result of a fantasist who was believed by the Metropolitan Police.”

A probe by former High Court judge Sir Richard Henriques said police obtained warrants to search innocent suspects “unlawfully”.
