Salute WW2 veteran, 100 at his funeral

A CARE home is calling on people to attend the funeral of a 100-year-old Second World War veteran from Jamaica with no known relatives in the UK.

Oswald Dixon moved to Britain after joining the RAF in Kingston as a flight mechanic in 1944.

He died on September 25 at Broughton House care home in Salford, Greater Manchester.

Boss Chris Lindsay said: “At his 100th birthday celebratio­n, Oswald stated he always tried to live life as it should be lived, by doing things for other people.”

His funeral is at Agecroft Cemetery and Crematoriu­m in Swinton on Wednesday at 2.30pm.
