Salute WW2 veteran, 100 at his funeral
A CARE home is calling on people to attend the funeral of a 100-year-old Second World War veteran from Jamaica with no known relatives in the UK.
Oswald Dixon moved to Britain after joining the RAF in Kingston as a flight mechanic in 1944.
He died on September 25 at Broughton House care home in Salford, Greater Manchester.
Boss Chris Lindsay said: “At his 100th birthday celebration, Oswald stated he always tried to live life as it should be lived, by doing things for other people.”
His funeral is at Agecroft Cemetery and Crematorium in Swinton on Wednesday at 2.30pm.
