Bruce plan grit or bust

-

BET Steve Bruce pays a penalty for his hard work.

It’s easy to think that a top-flight manager’s job is only about the dreadful 90 minutes of abject surrender like the one Newcastle put in last Sunday at Leicester.

But Bruce will have been working his socks off behind the scenes, reigniting pride, plotting brilliant tactical coups, and keeping on top of the bibs and such.

I expect he’s also been lobbying Mike Ashley to bankroll an emergency morale boost.

Plan A: Huge January transfer kitty to address systemic blight. Plan B: New tracksuits made out of Curly Wurlys.

The lack of VAR cost Manchester United a likely Europa penalty in midweek, and that’s our angle when they go to St James’ Park (4.30pm).

The visitors have pace to spare with the likes of Daniel James. Bruce (above) will have been injecting ‘grit’ all week, and a humiliated Toon could get a bit rash.

Take the 6/1 (Bet365) ‘Man Utd score penalty’. Last week: Winner at 7/5
