Wembley VIP seats for ‘mega rich’
FOOTBALL bosses are flogging tickets for Euro 2020 finals games at Wembley for nearly £20,000 a time.
Social media ads are offering them in VIP packages for the seven London games, including the semi-finals and final.
All the normal seats at games in all 12 major European cities have already gone into a ballot – with around 20 million fans applying for only 1.5 million tickets.
Now ordinary England supporters with little chance of seeing their host nation heroes play in the tournament have blasted the ads for the VIP packages as a kick in the teeth.
One said on Facebook: “You need to be a millionaire to afford these.”
Another said UEFA chiefs were going for
“the mega rich corporate brigade and don’t care about real fans”.
The top-of-the-range Wembley Prestige Platinum Experience costs £19,873 per head.
Rich fans will enjoy “the stylish and vibrant setting of a lounge with a private table,
high-end cuisine, plated meal service and unlimited champagne”. Cheaper options are the gold package for £13,706 per person, the silver at £10,622 and the less exclusive 2020 Club for £7,966.
Even the Platinum Package for just England’s three group stage Wembley games alone costs from £2,840 per person.
Balloted ordinary tickets across the 44 matches in the tournament have been priced at £44 or less, but for the semi-final and final they leap up to £830.
Supporters who have applied have a one in 13 chance of getting to a game.
There have been 1.5 million requests for semi-final tickets and 1.3 million requests for the final. On average, fans are applying for 12 tickets per application in at least two venues,.
A UEFA spokesman said: “This shows they are embracing the unique format of the competition, with 12 different venues around Europe.”
