THE candle business is on fire, worth £1.9billion a year as fans wax lyrical about their luxuriously fragranced favourites.
Celebrities with money to burn love to fill their homes with their signature scent – none more so than Gwyneth Paltrow, who has launched a £57 candle called This Smells Like My Vagina.
Other stars hooked on a pricey perfume include Jennifer Aniston, who uses Byredo’s £57 Burning
Rose candles both at home and in her trailer on film sets.
The Duchess of Cambridge filled Westminster Abbey with Jo Malone’s Orange Blossom for her 2011 wedding to Prince William.
And Victoria Beckham uses Diptyque’s £47 Figuier candles to “awaken the senses” in her flagship London fashion store.
But budget brands offer their own versions for a fraction of the price. Prince Charles’s candlemaker David Constable said: “Today, candles are seen as a luxury that people can buy and not spend a fortune.”
