Stab threat’s still haunting gay star Will
SINGER Will Young was threatened with stabbing for holding hands with his boyfriend in the street.
The Pop Idol winner, who came out as gay in 2002, is still haunted by the incident in London’s East End even though it was “about 14 years ago”.
Will, 41, said even now he has “to think about where I feel I belong, and where I might feel unwelcome or even unsafe.”
He has written a book, To Be A Gay Man, about his struggles facing his sexuality. He said he never believed he would be able to marry and have kids until same-sex marriage laws came into force.
He was recently devastated by the death of his twin brother Rupert, who battled alcoholism and depression for years.
