Protest over Belarus polls
PROTESTERS took to the streets yesterday in the seventh day of outcry over last Sunday’s re-election of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko.
Thousands rallied in Minsk to lay flowers for a dead protester and chant for Lukashenko’s removal.
The poll was blighted by allegations of rigging and around 6,700 people were arrested after it ended.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed to offer security assistance to counter protests.
