Choc giant’s club melts in fierce blaze
DOZENS of firefighters worked through the night to tackle a severe blaze near Birmingham’s Cadbury World attraction.
People had to flee the fire, which started at a two-storey company social club opposite Cadbury’s Bournville factory just before 5pm on Friday.
Flames and thick smoke engulfed the brick building and destroyed the roof.
There were no reported injuries but people were told to avoid the road and surrounding area. One lane was still closed on yesterday morning.
The social club had been enjoyed by Cadbury staff for more than 30 years.
The cause of the blaze is unclear. West Midlands Fire Service crews were at the scene for over 12 hours, until 6.40am yesterday.
