WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT... a stiff neck

-

Constantly looking down at your phone, sleeping in a different position to usual, a sudden impact like a sports injury and even stress can all give you a stiff neck.

But a bit of physio can help. Emmanuel Udomhiaye, physiotherapist at Bupa, says:

“Chin tucks are a good way to strengthen the neck muscles.

“Sit up tall in a chair, keeping your chin parallel to the floor and gently move your head and chin backwards, without tilting your head.

“You should feel a stretch in the back of your neck.

“Next, push your head up away from your ur neck as if you were being pulled ulled upwards, keeping your jaw relaxed. Hold the position for or three breaths, then relax.”

See a doctor or if your neck stiffness is causing using headaches, or if the pain is having a significant impact pact on your day-to-day life. e.
