A sorry story
What is it about have-it-all footballers that ends them up in trouble?
Take Harry Maguire.
He’s worth £80million to Manchester United, so it pays him £190,000 a week.
With that kind of money he could buy his own deserted island – and do what ever he wants there with his mates.
But he chose to holiday on Mykonos instead, where he now faces accusations of resisting arrest, hitting police officers and allegedly trying to bribe himself out of trouble.
And now there’s the appalling possibility of doing time in a Greek jail.
Maguire did not utter a single word after his court appearance yesterday.
If he is guilty as charged, he is a disgrace to his club, his country and himself.
And he should be mightily sorry.
