DAVID MEAD hit Trinity with a hat-trick as Catalans Dragons secured a Challenge Cup quarter-final spot.
But the real match-winner was half-back Josh Drinkwater with his array of kicking skills.
The Aussie’s boot set up tries for Matt Whitley and Fouad Yaha, plus two for Mead (left), and he also put Mead in for his third with a deft pass.
Ben Garcia darted over from dummy-half, and James Maloney kicked six goals.
Drinkwater said: “You score a lot of tries off kicks in wet-weather footy and a few came off today which is good.”
Jay Pitts grabbed two tries for Wakefield, with Tinirau Arona and Jacob Miller scoring late consolations. Coach Chris Chester said: “We genuinely thought we could turn them over. We’re disappointed.”
