RON WILL RESTORE BARCA’S SWAGGER

-

I LIKE Ronald Koeman and I’m happy he’s got his dream move to become Barcelona manager.

I felt Everton didn’t show enough patience with him and acted too quickly in getting rid.

Koeman (right) plays a decent style of football and has proven that with his results in turning around Holland so dramatically.

When he took that job, they were at rock-bottom.

They had failed to qualify for the World Cup in 2018 and had played some appalling football. They were not Holland.

But he returned some of their DNA – and some pride as well.

I think that shows he e knows what

Barcelona desperately need and will try to do the same at the Nou Camp. p.

For a start, they need ed their identity again.

You’ve seen them in recent years being almost scared of opponents, lacking that swagger the club has always adopted.

In the modern game, you need adaptive technical plans, but you also need an identity.

Koeman, after spending six years at ththe Nou Camp winning 10 major honours there, knows all about the true Barca identity.

He’s shown character, too, because getting dumped like that by Everton could have stalled his management career for good, but he chose the right position with Holland and did a brilliant job.

He will, no doubt, be able to speak with Messi and get across that he knows exactly what Barcelona should be – and I believe that will be enough to persuade the Argentinian to stay.

So, good luck to Koeman – the football world needs a swaggering Barcelona.
