Rodgers switching to Swiss
LEICESTER boss Brendan Rodgers is turning his attention to Borussia Dortmund defender
Manuel Akanji after being frustrated in his attempts to land Wesley Fofana from Saint-Etienne.
Swiss international Akanji has impressed since joining Dortmund from Basel in January 2018.
And while the
Bundesliga club don’t want to lose him, the Foxes are planning to test their resolve with an offer for the 25-year-old.
Rodgers had hoped to bring Fofana in this summer – but French side Saint-Etienne are reluctant to fully let go of the talented teenager.
However, they would be interested in allowing Fofana, 19, to join Leicester if he were then to be immediately loaned back for a season.
But Rodgers wants to strengthen his squad now – meaning a move for Akanji is looking a higher priority.
Akanji, who has won 24 caps for Switzerland, would cost Leicester around £18million.
