I’m dying of throat cancer says cruise ship smuggler
A GRAN who was jailed for smuggling £1million of cocaine on a luxury cruise ship has revealed she is battling throat cancer in a Portuguese prison.
Susan Clarke, 72, is serving her eight-year sentence in a maximum- security jai l following her conviction last year for trafficking drugs with husband Roger, 72.
She was already in remission after surgery for breast cancer before medics carried out a biopsy on a malignant tumour.
Clarke said her husband had written to PM Boris Johnson asking to let them serve their jail terms in the UK but they had heard nothing back.
She said: “I’m worried I will die here. I can’t talk or eat.”
The pair, from Bromley, South London, had nine kilos of cocaine in their cases when their Caribbean cruise docked at Lisbon in December 2018.
