A government cover-up? Yes!
I’m sure I’m not the only one scratching my head trying to make sense of the three lockdown tiers.
You need a day off now to read the fine print on every new government announcement.
This week, my friend phoned with this teaser: “I live in a Tier 1 area, my sister lives in a Tier 2.
“We meet at work every day as we run a factory together. But I can’t see her in her home…”
Yep, that had me stumped too. And what about the “wearing a mask in a car when you aren’t alone” one?
Health Secretary Matt Hancock was pictured getting out of his ministerial car without one on. So was he right or wrong?
Well, to be fair, you have to be good at verbal reasoning to follow the guidance, but here goes:
Mr Hancock’s office said there are “different rules for chauffeurdriven cars to private hire vehicles. Ministers are advised to wear one, but it is not a legal requirement”.
Meanwhile, No 10 says it has advised ministers to wear coverings, which are available in all ministerial cars.
I’d say this one’s simple – if your job involves setting best practice for wearing a face mask, set the example you want others to follow.
This one really can’t be a case of
“read my lips”.
