Nervous reveals she struggled to watch back scenes of herself playing Princess Diana in The Crown.

She says: “I got sent some episodes and tried to watch them on my own and was like, ‘I can’t do this. This is terrifying’.

“I watched it with my flatmates. They were like, ‘You’ve really got her voice’, which I was really happy to hear. I’m really proud of what we’ve made.”

For the past three seasons, the Royals have avoided watching the Emmy-winning series.

But Emma is optimistic for a change in season four.

In a TV chat in the US, she admits: “I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t quite daunting.

“But I feel if they switch it on, if they go to Netflix and click play, then they know what they’re getting themselves into.

“I hope there’s a part of them that wants to see it. I hope that they’re not doing it because they are unhappy or something.”

The Crown, Series 4, Netflix, from November 15
