WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT... dandruff?

-

You might be surprised to learn that the key to treating an itchy, flaky scalp could lie in your diet.

“A balanced diet, comprising carbohydrates, healthy fats, proteins, fibre, vitamins and minerals is the best thing for your scalp and hair,” says trichologist Stephanie Sey, an expert in scalp health. “And eating a diet that is rich in fresh vegetables, meat and fruit helps too.

“The hair is the very last system in your body to receive nutrients as it is one of the least essential, so if your body is not receiving adequate nutrients, your hair will likely be affected.”

Don’t let hair-washing fall by the wayside while you are working from home or because it is winter and you can hide it under a hat.

This will allow a build-up of bacteria, which is likely to make the problem worse.

If you are still suffering, you could try using a dedicated anti-dandruff shampoo, such as Nizoral, £5 (boots.com).
