This is life from my point of interview
One of the things that makes my life worthwhile is using any opportunity to increase people’s awareness of prostate cancer and how to live the best way they can in the circumstances they find themselves in.
This week saw the culmination of two such opportunities, both of which are so close to my heart. Firstly, I was the subject of an online article about running with cancer, posted by the sportswear company inov8.
I love what they wrote because it encapsulates the joy I have found from running to get me through the darkest times in my life – at the same time, I hope, inspiring others to get their trainers on and get out there too. You can read the article at inov-8.com/ inspiration-hub.
Secondly, an interview with me talking about my cancer journey has been turned into a short film by
UNILAD. While the actual interview took an emotional hour, they have expertly cut it to
13 minutes. You can see it at youtube.com/watch?v=aCH2lGqf0DY.
What surprised me about this release is that it has had more than 800,000 views over a number of channels in a week, and the hundreds of amazing comments both inspire me to keep going and have clearly inspired others to make a bit more of their lives.
Looking back over the years, I have turned away so many chances to make a difference to others with little impact on my own life.
It took cancer for me to realise the importance of putting myself out there when it makes sense.
I hope that by reading this you will grab opportunities now to make a positive difference to others, no matter how small those differences may be.
Until next week
Kev
