Flying start... 9 years late
THE first flyers landed at a new international airport yesterday – nine years after it was meant to open.
Eco-protesters at BerlinBrandenburg Willy Brandt Airport held signs reading: “Flying is so yesterday.”
But easyJet became the first carrier to land there, with a flight from the German city’s Tegel airport, which will close next week.
The new site was due to open in 2011 but technical issues caused huge delays.
