Jamie shoots for glory in Cyprus
JAMIE DONALDSON will take a one-shot lead into today’s final round of the Cyprus Open.
The Welshman (above) is bidding to complete a remarkable comeback – six years on from sealing the winning point for Europe at the 2014 Ryder Cup in Scotland.
Donaldson, 45, lost his Tour card in 2018 but a third-round 69 yesterday put him in pole position to claim a first victory since winning the Czech Masters six years ago.
DAN EVANS missed out on a place in the Vienna Open final after losing to Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego yesterday.
Sonego, who stunned world No.1 Novak Djokovic in the last eight, kept up his form with a 6-3 6-4 win.
The British No.1, who received treatment for a shoulder injury midway through the game, could not find enough to trouble Sonego.
Sonego came as a lucky loser but now faces Russian Andrey Rublev.
